Arequipa City tour
We will pick you up from your hotel around 13:40- 14:00 pm and then taken to the districts of Carmen Alto and Yanahuara, where we will observe the wonderful landscapes of the city surrounded by the Chachani, Misti, and Picchu Picchu volcanoes. We'll also admire its beautiful countryside, shaped by its well-preserved pre-Inca terraces, and of course, the Chili River. Yanahuara is the next stop on our tour. In its main square, we find a church dating back to 1750 with a baroque façade. The highlight, however, is the arches framing stunning views of the city, engraved with texts that reflect the life philosophy and inspiration of the Arequipeño people. Yanahuara also showcases Colonial Arequipa with its quaint, narrow streets and historic mansions built from sillar (volcanic stone). We will then return to the historic center to visit the Santa Catalina Monastery, a display of four centuries of Arequipeño architecture. Its secluded cells, small streets, and cloisters are adorned with colorful flowers and walls painted in fresh hues. The narrow alleys lead to various parts of the convent, taking visitors through picturesque areas and original living quarters with their antique furnishings. Visitors will feel as though they are traveling back in time. Next, we will visit the Plaza de Armas, one of the most beautiful squares in Peru, and the Jesuit Church of La Compañía. This church's stunning façade exemplifies the so-called mestizo architecture, and we will also see its cloisters and dome. As an example of a colonial mansion, we will visit the Tristán del Pozo house.
