Morning or Afternoon | Pickup from Your Hotel in Cusco
Your experience begins with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. The exact pickup time will depend on whether you’ve chosen the morning or afternoon tour. To ensure everything goes smoothly, we’ll need the name and address of your hotel in advance.
After pickup, we will drive toward the Maras area, located in the Sacred Valley region. Along the way, you will enjoy beautiful views of the Andes, rural communities, farmlands, and peaceful landscapes.
Arrival at the ATV Base and Safety Briefing
Once we arrive at the ATV base, your guide will welcome you and provide all the necessary instructions for the ride. You will receive a helmet and a safety briefing before starting the adventure.
If this is your first time riding an ATV, there’s no need to worry. Your guide will explain how to control the vehicle, how to follow the route, and the most important safety rules. You’ll also have a short practice session before the tour begins.
ATV Ride Through the Andean Countryside
After the briefing, the ATV adventure begins. You’ll ride along open roads surrounded by beautiful Andean scenery, traditional farmland, mountains, and quiet rural areas.
This part of the tour is one of the most enjoyable moments, as you can breathe in the fresh air, admire the landscapes, and experience a different side of Cusco away from the bustling city. The ride is guided, and the group will follow a safe and organized route.
Visit to the Moray Archaeological Site
The first major stop will be Moray, one of the most fascinating Inca archaeological sites in the Sacred Valley. Here, your guide will explain the significance of this site and how the Incas used its circular terraces as an agricultural research center.
Each level of the terraces created different temperatures and conditions, allowing the Incas to study and adapt crops to different environments. This site is a wonderful example of Inca engineering, knowledge, and connection with nature.
Visit to the Maras Salt Mines
After visiting Moray, we will continue on to the Maras Salt Mines. Depending on local regulations and operating conditions, the transfer to the salt mines may be by tourist transportation instead of ATV, as access rules can vary.
The Maras Salt Mines are one of the most unique landscapes in the Cusco region. Thousands of small salt pools cover the mountainside, creating a beautiful view of white and earthy tones. Local families continue to harvest salt using traditional methods, making this place both scenic and culturally significant.
You’ll have time to take photos, learn about the salt production process, and appreciate one of the most iconic attractions in the Sacred Valley.
